Who we Are and What we Believe

Who & What is WitnessTO?

WitnessTO is an non-denominational ministry website which aims to provide a voice to people in the greater Toronto area (GTA) to share their stories about the amazing work that God is doing in our city. We know that God is at work in this city, but sometimes this work is hidden; we just don’t often get a chance to see how God is working through local churches and in the lives of individuals.

WitnessTO is part of the Witness Network of websites (the others currently being WitnessHK, WitnessLA, and WitnessSF) which aims to provide a venue online for people to share their true stories of how God is at work in Toronto. We recognize that the online medium can help bring together people all over this city as they witness how God is already at work, and hopefully are encouraged themselves to become part of His work.

WitnessTO launched on January 30 2012, and is currently administrated by a small group of friends who volunteer to find & process new content and update the site.

Statement of Faith

Our ministry is non-denominational; we have adopted the Nicene Creed as our statement of faith:

We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy universal and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
